Pairing Old School Values With an Innovative Spirit
The Perro's Flowers story began in 1948 when 14-year-old Anthony Perro started selling corsages to support his family. He was a savvy, self-taught designer who vended flowers sourced from local greenhouses from a pushcart. Eventually, he graduated from corsages to bouquets and then from bouquets into full-on arrangements.
Anthony's industrious spirit eventually prompted him to open a brick-and-mortar shop in 1959 at age 25, thanks to customer demand for his increasingly sophisticated flower designs. The 800-square-foot space started as a combined showroom and working area, where Anthony enlisted the help of his wife and three children to create custom arrangements and assist with day-to-day operations. One son, Rodney, took a shine to the business, innately possessing a love for all things floral. He subsequently became a vital part of customers' lives, ushering them through essential rites of passage, from weddings to anniversaries and beyond.
In 1990, Anthony retired and handed the reigns of Perro's Flowers to Rodney, who continued to grow the thriving business. He hired a staff of talented designers and customer service associates and significantly expanded the design and retail footprint. That included both building a warehouse and cooler to manage ever-expanding inventory, as well as the purchase of a wholesale floral business in 1994. Since then, Perro's has serviced the Worcester area with world-class flowers for every occasion.
Today the Perro's tradition continues into the third generation with Rodney's son, who came of age at his father's side in the shop. The duo works side-by-side to provide their loyal customers with only the freshest flower arrangements and more - in the same location Anthony opened up so many years ago.
